Great news! The test results from an FDA-compliant, independent, third-party lab proved that the ActivePure technology kills 99.98% of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) on surfaces. This ActivePure technology is the main component in the FreshAir Mobile, both Air and Surface Pro models, and the Hydroxyl Blaster, one of our industrial options, on which the lab tests were performed. Testing was done at MRIGlobal. 

The company that holds worldwide rights to ActivePure received FDA certification to market and sell an Air and Surface Sanitizer specifically for the medical community. This device uses the same ActivePure® technology available in the Air & Surface Pro. This does not mean we claim FDA Certification on the Air & Surface Pro, but just that it is the same technology.  The Company has plans to submit the Air and Surface Pro for FDA Class II medical device certification in the near future.  

The use of MS2 bacteriophage for testing as a viral representative is recognized by FDA and is considered to be an adequate viral representative for purification testing. MS2 viruses are more resistant than its counterparts to various methods of disinfection, including UVC light exposure. This is because MS2 viruses have an “envelope” or a “shell” that must be cracked. The tougher the virus the harder it is to crack that shell. MS2, a mid-level virus, is called a “thin enveloped” virus, meaning it has a shell like an eggshell. If our mechanism can crack the MS2 virus, then our mechanism can likely beat down a lower level virus.  

When our ActivePure® Technology was tested against the MS2 virus, the results were very successful, including being successful against human coronaviruses such as Avian Bird Flu and SARS. We have tested successfully against other Coronavirus strands in that category. 

ActivePure technology is a proprietary system that works through the process of Radiant Catalytic Ionization (RCI) which is branded as ActivePure®. A high intensity UV lamp is combined with a honeycomb structure of rare earth metals which releases charged particles into the air through photo oxidation. These charged particles then attack the outer cellular wall (or shell) of various viruses, bacteria, etc. Once the outer wall/shell has been cracked, the virus/bacteria cannot survive without a host and rapidly dies.

Absolutely—The Air & Surface Pro goes above and beyond to protect you and your loved ones from contamination, but you should still exercise good hygiene.

Using the Air & Surface does NOT take the place of your regular cleaning schedule. You will still need to clean bathrooms and eating facilities as you normally would. However, it will be actively sanitizing 24/7, destroying contaminants in the air and on surfaces to keep your environment safe.

Ozone (activated oxygen) is the environment's natural defense system for contaminants. The Ozone generator works in concert with the ActivePure® cell (RCI) to bond with whatever contaminants are in the air and knock them down to surfaces. Once the particles have been knocked down the ActivePure® charged particles do their work of cracking the outer contaminants shell and killing them.

When outdoors, you are exposed to anywhere between .03 ppm – .05 ppm. The Air and Surface Pro+ machine uses one ActivePure® cell combined with ozone emitted at .02 ppm, which meets the FDA regulations. However, to meet guidelines for California or Canada, the Air & Surface Pro uses two ActivePure® cells, and does not use any ozone. The only difference between the two machines is that the ActivePure® with ozone knocks contaminants out of the air and down to the surface level very quickly (within minutes of turning it on) whereas the machine without ozone attacks the contaminants without knocking them down.
